Création d’un papier peint panoramique pour l’exposition «Tour du monde en papier peint» au Musée du Papier Peint, Rixheim
Il m’a été proposé de créer une oeuvre sur la thématique du paysage.
Mon regard s’est confronté aux paysages d’une nature désertique, volcanique. Nous sommes peu être dans l’espace, un paysage lunaire.
Ici il est question de minéralité: elle s’étende à perte de vue. C’est un aplat de matière qui dialogue avec la pureté du ciel. On se retrouve seul, face à nous même, comme hors du temps et de
l’espace. La lumière est la seule à rythmer et lier l’ensemble.
C’est pour cela que j’ai choisi d’intituler ma pièce « Héméra » en référence à la déesse grecque qui incarne la lumière céleste.
L’ensemble prend la forme d’un panoramique en référence aux panoramiques du XVIII° siècle, qui étaient une façon de créer une fenêtre sur un espace de rêve exotique au sein des maisons bourgeoises d’antan.
Ici le spectateur est invité à se plonger dans un paysage venant d’ailleurs,
un nouvel espace à conquérir : une invitation au voyage.

Creation of a panoramic wallpaper for the exhibition “Around the world in wallpaper” at the Wallpaper Museum, Rixheim
I was asked to create a work on the theme of landscape.
I was diving into deserts and volcanic landscapes attracted me. We are maybe in space, a lunar landscape.
Here it is a question of minerality: it extends as far as the eye can see. It is a flat surface of material that dialogues with the purity of the sky. We are alone, with ourselves, beyond time and space. Light is the only one to give rhythm and link everything together.
It is for that reason that I choose to call my piece « Héméra », in reference to the Greek goddess who embodies celestial light.
The whole thing takes the form of a panoramic in reference to the panoramics of the 18th century, which were a way of creating a window onto an exotic dream space within the bourgeois houses of yesteryear.
Here the viewer is invited to immerse himself in a landscape from elsewhere, a new space to conquer: an invitation to travel.
